Joe Kaline - Alto saxophone

Sourdough Joe is a versatile saxophonist, rhythm guitar player and singer, and an all-around entertaining guy. His groups include The Sons of Emperor Norton, the Beat Meters,  the Wednesday Night Jazz Band, and too many more to be named.  He also loves playing classical music and Three-Penny Opera on the saxophone.

Teresa Meikle - Tenor saxophone

Teresa grew up playing classical flute and oboe, but after developing a love for jazz and swing music, added saxophones to the mix.

In addition to the Sourdough Saxtet, she currently plays in the Moonlighters Swing-Era Big Band, the JH Big Band, C Street Jazz, and Petaluma Community Band. She loves playing in local community orchestras when they need a saxophone.

Ruth Ahlers - Bari saxophone

Saxophonist Ruth Ahlers relocated recently from the NY Tristate Area, where she had performed with big bands including the Diva Jazz Orchestra, the New Xavier Cugat Orchestra, and the Berkshire Jazz Orchestra. She was featured in 2008 at the Yellowstone Jazz Festival in Cody, WY, and was a longtime member of singer-songwriter Suzanne Sheridan’s band. She was fortunate to have performed Brazilian jazz with Joe Carter, Nanny Assis, and Jeff Fuller. Since moving to Sonoma County, she has performed with soul band Stax City, Searching Southward (Brazilian and Latin music), and the Sourdough Saxtet..
